2 years ago, almost to the day, I was working out at the local YMCA. Right in the middle of a set of pull-ups, I experienced an intense hot flash.
Followed by another.
In fact, that day began a 2-year string of hot flashes.
I was confused. I headed to my doctor since other symptoms accompanied the hot flashes. An MRI later revealed a series of injuries to my cervical spine. I assumed this was the cause of the surges of heat.
The strange thing:
I went into full menopause mode after that day.
Spinal injury or menopause?
Does the cause of the hot flashes even matter?
I believe not.
I have spent the past 2 years investigating and experimenting, intent on relieving the hot flashes.
And part of me also investigated the possibility that there is a beneficial purpose for hot flashes.
And then I struck gold.
A series of coincidental events occurred.
Research crossed my path.
Dots began to connect.
And one cornerstone practice paid off.
Suddenly, my hot flash frequency and severity dropped substantially.
And now I would like to know if this is a practice that will produce similar relief for others.
Regardless of their trigger – injury or menopause – hot flashes themselves can be quite debilitating.
- Sleepless nights
- A sense of panic that precedes the flush
- Feelings of hopelessness and frustration
- The myriad of physical and emotional strain that accompanies prolonged lack of sleep
- Feeling alone in your struggle
The first night I enjoyed my decreased hot flash intensity, I was over the moon with relief!
And terrified that it was a brief, one-time thing.
But my relief continued. I no longer needed to dress in layers so that I could peel one or two off before the flush soaked them.
I stopped needing to throw off all my blankets at night. The mere poking out of an arm was sufficient to allow me to cool and return to sleep.
And best of all, the sense of panic that once proceeded my hot flashes went away completely.
The Pilot Program
I know how the quality of my life has improved through my practice and I want to share this with others to see if you can find some form of relief and benefit for yourself.
I cannot promise results.
But I can promise that I will create a space for you to feel supported, encouraged, heard and seen, with an opportunity to reclaim your love of your body (which may feel as if it’s turned against you) and experience a practice that has been proven outside of the realm of hot flashes to have many health and wellness benefits.
We will focus on the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, diffusing a heightened nervous system response and restoring balance to the body’s natural rhythms.
What I need from you:
- Dedicated journaling each day (no more than 5-10 minutes)
- Committed practice of 11 minutes per day (comfortable, seated breathing practice)
- Weekly check-ins for conversation, support, updates, progress, and breath practice
- 10 weeks engaged in your daily practice
- Your consent to use your progress and results (not your name) in compiling of data for future programs and publications.
This is a simple practice that, combined with your progress journaling, takes only 15-20 minutes of your day.
It does need to be every day for the 10 weeks.

The cost of this program is $170 per person and includes a small journal.
