Last year, I was fortunate to learn the practice of Tibetan Sound Healing for Women from my Qigong teacher, Daisy Lee. She learned it many years ago from one of her teachers.
Tibetan Sound Healing is a series of 6 sounds chanted one at a time, plus one ‘silent sound’. Gentle movements accompany each sound.
The practice is short, simple and quite profound. It is designed for women’s health and hormone balancing.
I finished recording the practice and uploaded the modules to my Qigong for Women online school so more people may experience this beautiful and nourishing practice, yet I hadn’t gotten around to letting folks know it’s available. The weather is nice and I’ve been on my bike a lot!
This morning, while reading the newsletter from Tara Mandala (my Tibetan Buddhist Community), I was drawn to a piece about how to enhance your life force, health, personal power and success through a particular practice. Interested to know more? I know I was!

According to the article, there are 4 major forces that affect our wellbeing and success. The force that affects the body’s health is ‘lu’.
This made me smile.
One of the 7 sounds in Tibetan Sound Healing for Women is lu. We chant it during the breast health section of the course. Lu is used to break up stagnation in the lungs, heart and breasts.
What a gift!
More than a sound and vibration, we now know that lu is a force: a force for health. And we can chant it (loo) on a long slow exhale, feeling the body’s channels open and this force for health vibrate wellbeing into every cell in our body.
In Tibetan Sound Healing for Women, we exhale the sound while touching fingertips to sternum in a particular way to create a fountain of energy flowing from the lower dantian (energy centre) through the upper body. Perhaps a fountain of youth.
We often ask what health looks like.
Now, we know what it sounds like.
Lu.
Much love,
Stephanie
