Don’t be afraid of an open door: follow up to the chairs

A few posts ago, I told you about the meditation chairs I finally let go of. The chairs that seated our art, meditation, and women’s gatherings comfortably through the years.

There were 6 of them. And I always joked about how, when I planned an activity in my home studio, there would be 6 of us (often a different 6, but not usually more than 6). That’s just how it was.

Saturday morning in meditation, I wondered how I could be more of benefit during this time. I suddenly felt an overwhelming inspiration to connect with 2 authors I know and offer an online hour of uplifting content to ease the anxiety and confusion happening in the world.

The energy whipped me into action and by Saturday afternoon, we rolled out everything needed to host as many people as wanted to join our free online offering.

Yesterday morning, with less than 24 hours’ notice, 17 of us gathered live online to lift and strengthen one another. You could say 17 people were in my home studio. I just needed to first give up the 6 chairs.

I couldn’t have seen it coming. Because I wasn’t looking for that door.

And there’s more.

Another 20 people who couldn’t join us live, signed up to receive the recording. That would have been 37 people in my studio. Except the automated recording setting failed!

Which means… we are doing it again this Sunday. And the other authors want to do one every Sunday. It’s our online church of love.

And let me tell you… boy, did I feel good all day yesterday! Gathering in community to practice lovingkindness, gratitude, and blessings for others was food for the soul.

I’m happy I let go of those chairs.

Now… if I could only find a home for the 90 books I culled from my and the kids’ shelves… I wonder what door is poised to open next? 😉

With the state of the world as it is today, many doors are closing. AND many are opening. Ask what you can do and then don’t stand in front of the closed doors; look for the open ones.
